At 8.00pm on Tuesday 24th December 2013 we have our "Midnight" Mass in St Simeon's Chapel in the Serbian Orthodox Patriarchate in Belgrade. The invitation to celebrate there has become something of a tradition now, and sometimes we forget how special this is - it is very rare for an Orthodox Church to invite an Anglican community to celebrate the Eucharist in one of its churches or chapels - so don't miss the opportunity to be a part of it! https://www.facebook.com/StMarysBelgrade The Anglican Church of St Mary in Belgrade, Serbia
The Archbishop of Canterbury at the Constantinople 2014 On 13-14 January 2014, His Grace the Archbishop of Canterbury Justin Portal Welby made an official visit to His All-Holiness the Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew. This was the first time that the Archbishop had visited the Constantinople.
The Archbishop of Canterbury at the Constantinople 2014 His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew: "Your Grace Archbishop Justin, Beloved Brother in Christ, and Honoured Guest of the Ecumenical Throne, In the year 1837 the English traveller Robert Curzon visited the Ecumenical Patriarch at the Phanar, and was greatly surprised to find that His All-Holiness had never heard of the Archbishop of Canterbury. ‘Archbishop of what?,’ said the Patriarch with some scepticism. ‘Who is he?’ Today, we are happy to affirm, our two Churches are somewhat better acquainted! You come here, dear Archbishop Justin, not as a stranger but as a friend, as a valued colleague and ally whom with all our heart we welcome most warmly. We hope that this will be the first of many visits. We are much impressed and at the same time deeply grateful that, despite your busy schedule, as you visit the heads of the world-wide Anglican communion during the first year of your archiepiscopate, you have given priority to this present pilgrimage that you are making to the Ecumenical Patriarchate. This underlines special relationship that has existed for many years between our two Churches, the Anglican and the Orthodox..." 18/09/2014 Jerusalem Patriarch Theophilos III address to the int commission for ang/orth dialogue "...The Orthodox and Anglican traditions share a grounding in, and a devotion to, the patristic mind. Over the generations, Anglican patristic scholarship, always of the highest quality, and Orthodox patristic reflection, always a living expression of the Church’s faith, have given us eloquent testimony to the ongoing relevance of the patristic heritage to our present life. This common ground that Orthodox and Anglicans share is a great gift to us, and one that has the power to deepen further our joint theological exploration..."
