When a Pope 'Resigns', shouldn't he shut up and keep his comments to himself. It seems that Big Ben wants to make his feelings felt on continued priestly celibacy whereas Pope Francis might think otherwise, not before time. How many commenting 'Popes' does the Roman Catholic church now have? Benedict may be resigned to a celibate life himself but by what right can he publicly pontificate on the issue when he has once resigned the role of Pope?
Some would contend that Benedict is the true Pope but he left under duress, and that Francis is an illegitimate pretender. Just saying what I've read. As far as Benedict's "rights," don't we all have a right to pontificate about the mess the RC hierarchy has made of things? But for us, as for Benedict, nothing we say will be binding upon the RC laity.
