I am trying to instill myself with Christian thoughts and habits, and I think a routine is a good way of going about this. I am interested in knowing about the routines of the members of this forum, the vast majority of whom are vastly more experienced Christians than me. So, what is your daily/weekly Christian routine? I am going to try and read the Evening Prayer in the BCP everyday and attend Sunday services when they commence again.
I try to read the Bible daily and I try to pray the Great Litany. I also try to do something with my 4 year old.
I cultivated a habit of praising and thanking God whenever the thought crosses my mind. Not because I have to or because I should, but because I'm grateful. Hallelujah! Thank you, Lord!
Anthony you will and are being guided by God. For me its daily bible reading and other works. Prayer several times a day , and listening to the views of others. I feel that it helps me in my interactions with others.
My routine for this whole week, before I start work, was to read a Psalm and to conduct the entire Litany all the way through, each morning. Difficult but really cathartic against the madness going on in our country right now. Psalm V Lord, hear the voice of my complaint . . . accept my secret prayer. To thee alone, my King, my God . . . . . . . will I for help repair. Thou in the morn my voice shalt hear . .. and with the dawning day. To thee devoutly I'll look up . . . . . . . . . . . to thee devoutly pray. For thou the wrongs that I sustain . . . . . . can'st never, Lord, approve. Who from thy sacred dwelling place . . . .. all evil dost remove. Not long shall stubborn fools remain . . . . unpunished in thy view. All such as act unrighteous things . . . . . .. thy vengeance shall pursue.
I have been praying the Evening Prayers. I am on a 60 day cycle through the Psalms. I read the evening ones last month and the morning ones this month. I also read a bit out of the Bible each day. I try to do some sort of devotional with my son also. It varies. The other night we read Compline. Last night it was the Family Prayer and the Ten Commandments.
