    Dear Friends,
The state of the world today has left me despondent, despairing. I cut the cord(cable) awhile ago but for now I have cancelled all my streaming services and will be reading!! Anyone here old enough to remember books?

So I’m going to be reading The Mitford series/Father Tim books. Pure, unadulterated escapism! I just want to feel happy!

    What are your thoughts?

I think that-s great. And I loved The Mitford series.

That's great, what is the Mitford series about? I'm always on the hunt for more good literature

For myself I've been on a classic Sherlock Holmes trend, especially with the old beautiful depictions of Holmes and Watson and their adventures... The people (men and women) are so stylish and elegant!

I certainly sympathize with the OP, particularly after seeing some of the nonsense on Twitter. Lately I've been reading Out of the Silent Planet by C.S. Lewis, but also some of the "John Carter of Mars" series by Edgar Rice Burroughs. Some of those are available for free on Google Books if they are in the public domain!

Probably the Father Brown detective stories by Chesterton.
