Heard this on the CBC news this morning. In largely Orthodox Georgia, Orthodox leaders urged people not to attend the pope's masses, as he's perceived as "proselytizing".

When the Pope arrived in Georgia, small groups of Orthodox faithful gathered on the road outside Tbilisi airport holding signs protesting the his visit. One sign called him a “heretic” and the other accused the Catholic Church of “spiritual aggression”. The same groups were present the next evening outside Svetitskhoveli Cathedral, the spiritual centre of the Georgian Orthodox Church.

The Orthodox groups most opposed to dialogue with Western Christians have expressed fear that closer ties with the West will lead to what they see as moral decadence.

    The behaviour
At least it is a reminder to RCC's that the bridge between EO and RCC stretches quite a distance. Liberalism aside, that bridge is quite short between Anglicanism and EO.

Our old friend on the forums High Churchman would definitely agree! He once posted that Anglicanism was:

I have become aware that some of the Atiochean Orthodox are a bit down on Bartholomew for playing to nicely with the Patriarch of the West.

I am beginning to think Orthodoxy is as diverse a terms as Anglicanism is.
