After many decades in a spiritual coma, there are so many things to learn and I find the Holy Ghost is still a mystery. As I understand, it is GOD himself and dwells in us? If that is correct then there must be more. I would really appreciate some guidance. Thank you. Ken
Hello Ken, Yes, the Holy Spirit is part of the Trinitarian Godhead, but the Spirit is neither God the Father, nor God the Son, Jesus Christ. From your question, I think you are asking both about the nature of the Holy Spirit, and how the Spirit operates in our lives. I think this Orthodox article covers much of what you want to know: https://oca.org/orthodoxy/the-orthodox-faith/doctrine-scripture/the-symbol-of-faith/holy-spirit
Ken, That is certainly a good question, all right. If you have time and like audios, you might try these lectures by the Anglican J.I. Packer on the Holy Spirit: http://www.cslewisinstitute.org/audio/download/1809/82.05_PackerFinala.mp3 http://www.cslewisinstitute.org/audio/download/1810/82.05_PackerFinalb.mp3 They are titled "The Holy Spirit in Scripture & Theology", parts 1 and 2 - and Dr. Packer is quite a teacher. In one of his books Bishop Atwood wrote this: “Originally, before the fall, the human spirit was meant to be a dwelling place for The Holy Spirit and a place we could meet with God. It was in the depths of the human spirit that fellowship with God took place.” This was lost in the garden, restored at Pentecost.
