What are the traditional Anglican beliefs and common practices? What makes up a traditional Anglican? Do T.A.'s pray the rosary, believe in apparitions, disapprove of homosexual marriage, and female holy orders? If so, how would a traditional Anglican deal with all the heresy in the Episcopal church?
The rosary and Marian devotions are manifestly not traditional, as they take focus away from Christ, and people run a serious risk of worshipping something which is not God, which is a grave sin. As for apparitions, they are basically a Marian phenomenon, so again see above; Mary is just a human being, she is not a demigod that can float in the heavens and give people visions. Homosexual marriage is a grave sin, contrary to the purposes of marriage according to Anglican doctrine; it is manifestly anti-Christian, and is to be opposed at every turn. Female holy orders are likewise something which opposes the constant and traditional Anglican teaching, so yes a proper T.A. will reject female holy orders. That being said, there are some people who aspire to be T.A.s who come from the Episcopal Church and are still growing in understanding of traditional Anglican tradition on this issue (the T.A. community accepts them without allowing that they're right on this issue). The way a traditional Anglican will deal with the heresy in the Episcopal church is by rejecting it and casting it out as anathema which will be vomited from God's mouth on the last day. There are almost no T.As left in the Episcopal church at this point. It is left to languish and die from a death of a thousand cuts, losing thousands of people in membership every year. In 10-15 years there will be no people left in TEC, it will dissolve and become a secular social institution for leftist political causes. At that point we will likely just buy up the old TEC buildings, re-consecrate them to God's worship, and reconstitute the way things were 50-60 years ago before everything fell off a cliff.
There are High Anglicans who pray the Rosary. There are Anglican pilgrimages every year to Our Lady of Walsingham, Walsingham , England. One of the Popes, can't remember which, bestowed upon England the honorific Mary's Dowery in recognition of the faithful in England
I fairness, I hope that traditional Anglicans will not be defined by what we are against, or what we disapprove of. To my mind Traditional Anglicans Are strong on the doctrine of the Holy Trinity Constant in their affirmation of the Nicene Creed Absolute on the requirement of holy scripture to support all that must be believed Rejoicing in the tradition of faith tracing origins to before the time of the Augustinian Mission Resolute in the spirit of the Elizabethan Settlement Receiving the 39 Articles Loyal to the Dominical Sacraments - Baptism and Holy Communion Ecumenical within the confines of the Chicago-Lambeth Quadrilateral Our mantra in theology is Scripture, Tradition and Reason To those of our number who wander off in search of greener pastures, we implore you, return the the faith that has nurtured you and will guide you heaven. We lament the division which exists among us and we pray that we may find the path together true to all we have received.
Sacraments specifically instituted by the Lord (Dominus in latin) Anglicans consider that there are two dominical sacraments (i.e., ones instituted by Jesus Christ), and five other sacraments or lesser sacramental rites. I know we have some varied views on this however that is a fair middle ground assessment of the 39 Articles position on the matter.
