    I voted no because it is not the practice of the Eastern Churches, as well as others, and was not historically taught as a requirement. That does not mean that I disagree with the discipline of celibate clergy as a norm for the Roman Catholic Church. I also hold that the unbroken tradition of celibacy for monastics and vowed religious should be maintained. I view celibacy as a calling from God and a great gift for the Church, a complete self-gift of dedication to the mission of Christ and service to His flock. Within the RCC there can and should be exceptions as we see with the Eastern Catholic Churches and the Ordinariates, and perhaps that needs to be expanded for other circumstances.

    I see no issue with the Anglican tradition or with others allowing married clergy.

    so that priests should have nonchildren who could inherit

    No good and holy reason then. So again, why?
    Presumably why Anglican priests may marry as priests once did in the RC church before the RC church forbade it.
