do church of England/church of Ireland Anglicans say "jesus, mary and joseph!" Like Irish Catholics do?
It isn't said my members of the Church of England. I do not know whether people in the Anglican Church of Ireland say it. It is most definitely an Irish expression. That is why you won't here members of the Church of England using it. I don't think members of the Anglican Church of Ireland will use it because my impression of that chirch is it is a low church rather than high church and calling upon Jesus, Mary and Joseph in this manner is Catholic rather than Anglican thing to do. You will, of course, probably here it a lot from Irish people because the majority of them are Catholic even if only nominally. It is possible Irish Anglicans may say it because it is an Irish expression in the same way you will here atheists use the expression, 'Oh, my God!, which is not because they believe what they're saying but it's just an idiomatic expression they've heard and learnt.
I've never heard anyone I have ever met in the C of E say it. Most would consider it an uncouth and blasphemous profanity. .
Euphamism for blaspheming the name of Christ, along with his Mother and step Father. . (Using his name in vain)
"Jesus" - used as an exclamation rather than as a prayer, is an inappropriate use of a name of God, and adding the names of his mother and step father do not reduce the insulting nature of the impious expression. It is an inappropriate use of the name of Christ, though I doubt if Jesus would actually pull anyone up over it. Profane: not sacred, secular, showing contempt for sacred things, of language irreverant or blasphemous. .
