Hello, and welcome to the Forum. Can you clear up a conundrum, please? Your thread says, 'Greetings from Singapore'. That would suggest you're from Singapore. However, under your avatar it says your country is the USA. May I enquire which?
I too am curious and I second PDL's query; are you a US citizen living in Singapore, perhaps? Or what?
Nice to meet you too. Please tell us a bit about what brings you here. Are you Anglican? Another faith, but considering Anglicanism? Just wondering. Blessings
Hi there, Ni hao I hope you have a beneficial stay here. I'm Catholic and I'm here for discussion not for arguments.
I believe the Romanization is Nǐ hǎo, and "Hi there" is Nǐ hǎo ya. The majority of Singapore's population may be ethnically Han Chinese and speak Mandarin. However, there are other significant ethnic groups in Singapore. English, Malay and Tamil are official languages alongside Mandarin. So, perhaps: Hi there / 你好呀 (Nǐ hǎo ya) / Hai / வணக்கம் (Vanakkam) (listed in alphabetical order of the languages' names in English).
