Lets just for the sake of argument agree that homosexuality is a sin. I assume the Christian objection to this is not so much that they have sinned but they keep on sinning. I also assume that if they were a homosexual and had now ceased practicing, this would be acceptable, in the same way a bank robber or murderer could see the light reform and become an acceptable Christian. What amazes me is the amount of angst that people write about homosexuality but there is ne'er a word about people living in sin or heaven forbid couples having children out of wedlock. Why is there this apparent contradictions ? Do the anti homosexual people also fume against fornicators in their church? Or is it that fornication unlike homosexuality is not disapproved of by a significant section of people out side of the church? Maybe I live in a liberal democracy but our Prime Minister has just had a baby and her and her partner aren't married and no one has even thought to comment on this.
Also relevant to the issue you have highlighted is the modern attitude to sinning of 'greed' 'lust' and 'gluttony' which are also ongoing in many a 'believer's' life, but does not seem to attract as much criticism from fellow believers as does 'gender identity confusion', (which actually is not even 'sinful' unless it leads to forbidden physical acts). There are many 'Christians' so obese that it is painfully obvious that they are gluttons and slaves to their own greed. The number of 'believers' that are addicted to porn and secretly consumed with lust do not seem to attract half the disapproval from other 'sinners' that believers with 'effeminate mannerisms' will be subjected to. There is a great deal of hypocrisy and foolishness in the church, it would seem, which are also sinful but remain fairly constant after a 'supposed repentance'.
Right. The main reason for this is that there aren't celebrities or TV shows made to celebrate having children out of wedlock. Everyone, in the secular world, understands that even if you had children out of wedlock, it's better that that didn't happen. On the other hand, the LGBT mafia is absolutely taking over the Western world, where to oppose it (much like one would oppose children out of wedlock) automatically makes you nearly as evil as Hitler, to be shunned, fired, made bankrupt, fined by the government, and imprisoned (by the police). Not hypothetically, but in actual law in many decadent Western countries today. However you can still criticize children out of wedlock, and no one will fine or imprison you. We oppose the mafia fascist gangster tactics around the LGBT agenda, and we fear for our safety, just as we fear for the souls of the LGBT folk in God's judgment. However we don't think those sins are the only things worth labeling as sins.
Australian television (free to air) programs include Married at First Sight and another one called Wife Swap, which I do not watch, however judging by the shorts both seem to promote attitudes to human behavior which I would have trouble calling acceptable.
It seems to me that the Church, as a whole , needs to have a somewhat hard look at itself and what and how it is teaching. Some in-reach to its own members. As previous commentators in the forum have pointed out, there are those who are in the church, who are per say suffering from/for/with their sin. We need to have some hard uncomfortable discussions around topic that for some reason the Church is not willing to talk about This can be a great opportunity to teach the how and why of what we believe . While I realize that we all have “our own crosses to bear”, reaching out to those both in the Church, and outside the Church is to a large extent what we are about. I wonder if the Church is scared to openly discuss some topics., or unwilling to take the stands that has in the past. Some of these topics can be scary, even painful to talk about.
