According to the following article published in the ACNA newsletter, there are three streams in the ACNA. ProtestantPentecostal/HolinessAnglo CatholicFairfield, L., The Rev. Dr. (2012). The Anglican Tradition: Three Streams, One River. The Apostle, May, p. 10-12. I attend a ACNA church plant. The ACNA mother church is low-church, leaning toward the evangelical and charismatic streams. However, our church plant leans more to the high-church Anglo Catholic stream. The phrase "Anglo Catholic" is not used during the service, but half of the people cross themselves as we go to the altar to receive the Eucharist. Inquire about ACNA churches in your region. This is great news!!! ACNA has always been primarily Protestant (evangelical). It is good to see ACNA addressing this issue through their church planting. I reviewed some the material. It seems that ACNA is "growing up". Given the wide range of different churches that were part of the founding of ACNA, there are still major issues to deal with. Opposition to TEC has helped put those aside. The most obvious is the local option for women's ordination. Members will be lost no matter how the issue is settled.
Scottish Monk, I really appreciate the information. Glad to see there is room for Anglo Catholics. Our Episcopal Parish does not have Anglo Catholic in the name. You just know when you get there and people bow or genuflect facing the Alter before sitting; kneel for prayer; cross themselves at different points; bow their heads when the name of Christ is spoken; make the sign of the cross on forehead, mouth, and heart when the Gospel is read; the vested Priest chants parts of the Liturgy; and bells ring upon Consecration of the Sacrament. These are the first clues.
