Hi guys, sorry I haven't been on for a while, I went on vacation to Mexico for a mini vacation and got to see the lady of guadalupe cloth! Anyway, as the title states, is exorcism a thing in the Anglican Church. I haven't heard of any exorcisms from the church but I want to know if it's a thing, thanks!
Priests perform exorcisms, yes. I believe it can only be with the permission of their bishop, however, who must grant such in every individual case. I could be wrong on that part, though.
Many Anglican dioceses have a designated exorcist. It is usually referred to as deliverance ministry. A small exorcism is generally performed at baptism or confirmation too.
A couple of Sundays ago I was privileged to see the priest bless the water in our chapel foyer so that we might have holy water. In doing so he used some salt. I asked him what this meant and he replied that the salt was exorcised. It immediately reminded me of how powerful holy water is and that it is feared and despised by satan
Yes, I remember that there is a specific way of making holy water, but it can only be done by priests, and you must exorcise the impurities that may be within the water
Which sparks another question, is holy water in the Anglican Church, and if it is, is it made in the same way?
I don't have holy water, but I'm just about the only person in my parish that uses the holy water we have. I don't know how it is made though.
