Stalwart I am interested in knowing why you pick a particular denomination and highlight the scandals that may or may not be happening within that organisation. Why not highlight scandals going on in all religious organisations and across all denominations.

This is just a place about R.C. topics. Others were discussed as well like the lack of Biblical literacy among the Eastern Orthodox (link), and the problems in the Episcopalian church which are well known.

    Back on topic, something new:

"Monsignor Kevin Wallin was a pastor at Bridgeport's St. Augustine Parish for nine years.

"A federal grand jury has indicted three men from Connecticut, including a priest, and two individuals from California with conspiring to distribute methamphetamine, the U.S. Attorney's office said on Wednesday."

Thanks for the explanation, there is a investigation ongoing here in Australia trying to get to the bottom of child abuse within all types of institutions including the Church. I guess I am a little touchy because I have seen this ongoing finger pointing of the different denominations here in Australia and I have found it rather disconcerting that they wouldn't all come together to get to bottom of if and deal with those who have been involved in the abuse, and with those who have tried to cover it up.

Read about this in today's newspaper. There'll be no British representive at the next conclave now. However I dislike how many newspapers publish such allegations. We must remember a person is innocent until proven guilty, and yet many people assume allegations to be true in many reported instances

Though a person is innocent until charged guilty, we can be pretty much assured that this happened because it came out of a Roman diocese. Such charges are never unfounded, because Romanism is close to the Whore of Babylon. No conspiracy theories or predictions of the end-times; Rome just acts like anti-Christ - and anti-Christ never inspires restraint or virtue in men, only vice.

Ritualism, effeminacy, lace, constant prayers to the Earth-Mother-Goddess, and the comforts of empty ceremonies tend to warp the hearts of men. We are inclined not to virtue by such things, but to ease & softness. We are disinclined from restraint when surrounded by clouds of incense, candle-flames, doily-like surplices, and wedding-gowns on saint-statues.

This could be an attack by progressive priests within their church (in order to distract from the conclave), but if that were so, why would the Cardinal resign immediately, and not fight the allegations while still in office? Were they untrue, he would have no reason to resign, and would be able to go to Rome confidently for the Vote. It should be no surprise, however, that every corner you turn in the Roman church is full of sick fetishes & perversity - it's what happens when men are forbidden to marry and become one flesh. Show us married bishops & priests who ever do anything like this!

It is curious he resigned immediately Who knows what is happening behind the scenes However it is dangerous to assume he is guilty before the law courts prove or dismiss the case. And to say these charges are pretty much assured because this happened in a Roman parish is worryingly witch-hunt like.

I agree with your point about a lot these abuse scandals are made worse by forbidding priests to have legitimate sexual relations. Removing this prohibition in the Roman church would help this problem I think

Former papist. Sorry. :p I get carried away with emotion, having experienced a lot of this myself every day. The spirit of Christ is not in most Roman churches. That emptiness naturally leads to a lot of problems. I find it difficult to doubt most stories I hear.

It would alleviate almost all the stress that their priests feel. It is biblical, patristic, and simply reasonable. Hopefully they'll get it through their heads one day. :)
